Plants Have Been Named After Famous Hollywood Actors Arnold Schwarzenegger And Danny DeVito: A Rare And Interesting Initiative

Biologists from The Australian National University (ANU) have named an unlikely pair of plants after Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, the stars of the 1988 movie Twins.(Photo : ANU TV / You Tube) Biologists have recently surprised all when they named two plants after the popular actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.

A surprising turn of events happens when biologists took a decision to name two plants after Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. An exceptional, but praiseworthy move surfaces for the first time.

Very few people on earth can forget the famous 1988 film "Twins". A beautiful chemistry is found between Arnold Schwarzenegger and famous comedian actor Danny DeVito in this movie. Recently, biologists at the Australian National University found two species of the Daviesia pea flowers and decided to name them after the Hollywood actors. It may be the first time that twin plants have been named after popular persons.

The two species are an unlikely pair of twins like the characters of the movie "Twins". According to The Irish News, Mike Crisp, the Emeritus Professor, and researcher of the project utters some interesting words. He reminds that embryo split unequally in the movie "Twins" and as a result, Schwarzenegger became a strong man while DeVito became a weak person. Similarly, the Daviesia devito is a weak plant while the Daviesia schwarzenegger is relatively robust and strong enough.

Prof. Crisp revealed that he named the plant after Schwarzenegger, just because he wanted to honor his pioneering role as the Governor of California. As a Governor the actor played a significant role in reducing the carbon emissions. He also advised the Australian Government to perform that same act.

One important thing is the pair belongs to Daviesia's 131 sub-species. Shockingly both the species are standing on the verge of extinction. These plants actually exist in the remained patches of the bushland in a specific region, which is gradually encroached for the wheat farming. Prof. Crisp opines that these species play an important role as nitrogen fixers in the famous Mallee region.

These plants fix important nutrients in the soil of the Mallee region. According to Prof. Crisp, previously, classifications of plants were done depending on their external appearance. But the advent of the DNA testing make the process more perfect, ABC Online reported.

It is obvious that these two plants will surely become popular with their new names. Popular Hollywood names Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito now emerge with more importance. This unique initiative is really adorable.
